jus a turning point
oo.. long time very log into the class blog liao.. knew tt today was a very sad and depressing day... we got our results and learnt that many ppl are dropping one of their subjects and was upset tt s8 will be separated... in addition mr cheng will be leaving us soon.. but since it had already happened, we shld jus accept and not to brood over abt it.. i mean this day has to come one day.. its only the matter of sooner or later.. i know tt its easy to say this.. but think abt it, its not the end.. 05S8 will become 05S8'05.. its a spirit tt will haunt the college forever and ever..
since we expected the outcome.. we shld cherish the time even more.. its not the end of the yr.. we still hav like 2 months and tts a lot of time!! even without the 2 months, think abt wat we had done as a class in this yr.. from strangers to class with very strong bonds.. even stronger tt that of convalent or ionic bonds.... we had done several great things.. like the fund raising during the openhouse, several ponning lessons, and the coming ups learning journey-cum-CIP, class chalet and OCIP.. and not to forget all the class outings and oso bday celebrations.. and ya, the national day celebration, though some of us cannot make it.. its wonderful to have a class like tt.. and even if we have to separate, we still can be together.. find out each other's time table den see when everyone will be free.. its as easy as tt, cuz our mind and heart will always be with 05S8'05.. am i wrong to say tt? and as for cheng, "yi ri wei shi, zhong sheng wei fu" as mrs ho said, which means, a teacher a day, forever a parent.. even though he is not old enough to act as our father, but we will never forget him right..
and this is wat i think la.. maybe this separation may not be bad.. its a time for us to think abt wat we had done and reflect abt the yr 2005.. its end soon and i hope we can all change in the following... afterall, (no offence) i think our class had played too much, its time for us to study.. we had enough fun and i think it shld be time tt we really can work and study hard next yr.. score all ur wanted 'A's in the gce A lvl, and the girls can start playing, while the guys will be gg to NS real soon.. watever it is, we still have several projects like the LJ-cum-CIP, class chalet and oso the OCIP which got me inside.. haha.. cherish our time tt we have left together, and mark a wonderful ending to the yr 2005...... be sure to keep in touch...

End of another chapter in life.
hi s8. firstly, i would like to congratulate everyone for promoting. im sure it came as a shock to many including me that mr cheng is leaving this year. fate brought all of us together, all 27 of us plus mr cheng, but this intersection of fate is too short. now mr cheng is going to leave us to a new year of whatever that awaits.
many of us felt really sad. the news came like a wave. it was really drama, and some of us fight tears as we accept it. we all know this day would come, the day mr cheng leave us to continue our path of lives. but... at year 1? i had a dream... where we could all stand in the hall in 2007 collecting our GCE 'A' level results from mr cheng san chye... where we will all share our moments of overwhelming euphoria. but, this dream did not shatter, it merely stayed as a dream.
i dunno what are ur views and thoughts of mr cheng as our civics tutor for the past 7 months, and a few ppl like me, 10 months. but we sure know he really enjoyed being with s8. he took really good care of us. his passion as a teacher never failed to neglect us, any of us. he was and is a great teacher, and we are all proud and privileged to have known mr cheng, to have him leave memories in our story of life. we know we will never forget the 05S8 civics tutor. we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
mr cheng, we will miss you.-G.O.A.T

please rmb to do ur OP and put ur heart in it. after so many months of hard work, u wan to get a good grade right?
anyway while doing op pw group found this interesting game at gprime,
http://gprime.net/game.php/puzzledsheep. quite challenging to some ppl la *ahem*, but its very indulging. i completed all 50 levels, woohoo!! but it took me quite some time. almost 1.5 hours.
anyway friday basketball was fun! there was this particular moment where i was about to recieve a pass, the ball was flying straight to me, i glued my eyes on the ball, i reached out my hands, then suddenly out of nowhere, >WHAM<. yunkai and huishan knocked into each other just right in front of me (they were from the same team). lucky i was not in between, lol!! it happened so fast, and i was like o.o"...........
so anyway, good luck for OP

TO ALL OCIP PEEPS...
TO ALL OCIP PEEPS...
i've sent an e-mail to Wah Mee Silk Screen which produces class tshirts and stuff... i've went to their website
http://www.class-t-shirt.com/ to check out what they have. i found a hooded sweatshirt which i think we can make for our OCIP... heres a pic of the hooded sweatshirt...

oh ya back to the topic of the e-mail... the Wah Mee people reply me liao... i asked for the price for one sweatshirt with some prints but the person said that he/she can only give us the quote only after he/she knows the following:
1) Quantity
2) Number of colours for printing
3) Colour of sweatshirt
4) Lead Time (according to my mum, lead time is the delivery date or something like that...)
joann... you in charge of this is it? please give me the infos soon so i can reply the person. and i need to give ur number to him/her for easy clarification...

The G.O.A.T speaks again.
hey hey. heres something
important. IF you have been ponning sch before the promos without approved valid reasons, your attendance was noted by mr cheng and he requests to see a parent's letter to clear it. i asked him, "or else what?" and he said, "or the attendance will be less". not sure this is supposed to be funny or serious, lol. but please go make parent's letters and clear ur absentism la.ok now something else. as some of u might know, theres this game ylympics (http://gprime.net/game/ylympics/), which is quite stupidly fun. why not we try it out and see who can get the highest score. heres a breakdown of my score.Part 1: 708.78Part 2: 440.33Part 3: 494.23Part 4: 436.57Part 5: 303.3Total: 2383.21btw photos of the open house have been uploaded into the 05s8 account at photobucket. please go and check it out.

Promotion here we come!
goat here! long time no blog. we have gotten back all our papers. hope everyone promote and stay in s8! think no problem la. but if thats not your situation, the class will still stand by you =D. think most of us making decision whether to drop econs already haha. my advice is dun drop on impulse, coz our econs all like very bad... anyway after almost a year of work, we are 1 step closer to A lvls. time to work hard if you haven't put in much effort. now is to clear OP, so dun get into holiday mood yet. anyway the pic on the main page very nice. but music...... lol.
btw my new email is
oalvinco@yahoo.com.sgheres some advertisement la... if you are interested in a new instant messaging service other than MSN, and you like to talk for hours, try Skype. it is well known for its free 'phone calls', actually its just voice chat like msn you click the Audio thing then talk on mic, but skype allows u to have up to 4 ppl talking at the same time. cool huh
some of our class ppl also suggest everyone play maple sea, then all create new account, with a clan name of S8 in front of your name. lol. dunno what you all think

~Our FeNG ShUi next year....~
haha.. look here ppl.. look wat i got here.. haha.. u may choose to believe it or not.. but juz for reference.. haha..
DRAGON born in: 1928 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 2000
Personality:Margical, shrewd, intuitive, artistic and very lucky. Alternately, can be stubborn, irritable and impulsive. Can also be rather worldly and hard to get close to. Full of vitality, self assured, bright and master of success. Somewhat proud and quick-tempered, the Dragon personality is always attractive.
The mighty and magnificent Dragon of mythical folklore never ceases to enchant or stir the imagination. The Dragon person is magnanimous and full of vitality and strength. To him life is a blaze of colors and he is constantly on the go. Egotistical, eccentric, dogmatic and very direct, the Dragon-born establishes his ideals early in life and demands the same high standards and prefection from others that he has for himself.
The powerful Dragon is difficult to contest, at times even impossible. He tends to intimidate those who dare challenge him. An angry, spurned Dragon could be like the big bad wolf at your door. He'll huff and he'll puff until he blows your hse down.
In spite of his volcano of emotions, the Dragon cannot be said to be sentimental, sensitive or very romantic. He takes love and adulation for granted: they are his just due. But while he maybe stubborn, irrational and overbearing when irked, the Dragon can forgive you the moment he gets over his outbursts. And since things are supposed to work both ways, he expects your forgiveness for his errors, too.
The Dragon likes: Festivals, Control, Wealth, Comfort, Concerts, Antique and Decadence.
The Dragon dislikes: Boredom, Cold, Dullness, Hunger, Hypocrisy and Quietness.
Luck in Year 2006
Overall Forecast:Dragon will be in conflict with Tai Sui in year 2006. The assembly of so many unfortunate stars will definitely bring low luck. The only thing you shld do is to keep calm n be patient in your doings n wait for a breakthrough of the diffcult situation. Beware of injury or traffic accident.
Financial problems may arise n you shld save some money for rainy days. You will have to solve certain family disputes n treasure the conjugal reationship with your spouse.
Health:Health is quite moderate but may get worse in February, April and second half of the year when accident will easily happen. Do some exercise n control your diet. Take care of the aged members in the family.
Career:Due to the low luck brought by the unfavourable stars, you will encounter obstructions to your career and work, Keep calm n patient in dealing with matters. Businessmen are advised to do things step by step n do not involve in illegal transaction for quick money.
Love:Young Dragons are not encourage to start a relationship in early age. Married couples shld show concern to their family problems. Be careful of ex-martial affair which will ruin the family. The singles shld handle emotional problems with care.
Wealth: You will have steady income but be careful in handling your finance in order not to be in debt. Do not attempt any investment in September.
~Have a great time reading.. haha.. bye!~
Take care n enjoy the hols,
~ShA gU~

dAmn fuNny~
Hi All,
Funny and interesting English..........read on to understand why........!!!!
We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes, but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese, yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice, yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men, why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet, and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth? Then one may be that, and three would be those, yet hat in the plural would never be hose, and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren, but though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him, but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.
Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? We ship by truck but send cargo by ship. We have noses that run and feet that smell. And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out, and in which an alarm goes off by going on. So if Father is Pop, how come Mother isn't Mop?
Interesting right? and funny too... =)- sHu

CIP and Learning Journey
Dear 05S8,
This is a very Very VERy important post. So please take note!!
- Collaborating CIP and Learning Journey
Firstly, as a compulsory Learning Journey programme, Choon Wee and I both jointly decided on the
Singapore Science Centre for the class. But here's the catch.. We are collaborating CIP with Learning Journey. As a result, we are bringing some children's home with us to the SSC. By doing so, this would be a very enriching experience for most of us who have never done facilitation of children before.
The benefitting home would be
The Salvation's Army - Gracehaven. The kids in Gracehaven are normal kids. Most of them have some family problems. Some of them are juvenile offenders of petty crimes. Thus, there would be a sensitivity issue that we will address to the class in the later time to come.
Gracehaven noted us that they would only be allowed to bring maximum 30 children out at a time. And they have only about
25 to 27 children of the suitable age (Primary School). Most of them have never been to the SSC. So we have to make sure it'll be an educational and fun experience for them!
So I would like to form a core committee in charge of the games for that day. Basically, they will be in charged of various stations in the SSC. They are
required to join us for a visit to the SSC after prelims. We are supposed to work out the activities and respective worksheets to be printed out. So, any volunteers?? We will need 5 to 6 ppl in the games committee. Games Master is ChoonWee.
This excursion will take place on the 16th of November, which is a Wednesday. It will be from 2pm to 6pm.
The Games Committee will be in charged of getting ready the worksheets. I wish to have a Souveneirs Committee to help make little gifts for the kids. Most importantly, we will discuss with the class again on a later date. Also, we are collecting some old children's books and toys for the home. The date of collection is not confirmed yet, however let's hope that we can span it over a few days so that you all can bring the donations bit by bit.
As you know, this is COMPULSORY for every one of us (because it is Learning Journey too!)
So, hopefully it will also help some to achieve the minimum requirement of 6 hours of CIP (i think we already had 2 hours from the Yellow Ribbon Walk!)
Thank you and have a nice day!
Fly, Joann, Choon Wee
