CIP and Learning Journey
Dear 05S8,
This is a very Very VERy important post. So please take note!!
- Collaborating CIP and Learning Journey
Firstly, as a compulsory Learning Journey programme, Choon Wee and I both jointly decided on the
Singapore Science Centre for the class. But here's the catch.. We are collaborating CIP with Learning Journey. As a result, we are bringing some children's home with us to the SSC. By doing so, this would be a very enriching experience for most of us who have never done facilitation of children before.
The benefitting home would be
The Salvation's Army - Gracehaven. The kids in Gracehaven are normal kids. Most of them have some family problems. Some of them are juvenile offenders of petty crimes. Thus, there would be a sensitivity issue that we will address to the class in the later time to come.
Gracehaven noted us that they would only be allowed to bring maximum 30 children out at a time. And they have only about
25 to 27 children of the suitable age (Primary School). Most of them have never been to the SSC. So we have to make sure it'll be an educational and fun experience for them!
So I would like to form a core committee in charge of the games for that day. Basically, they will be in charged of various stations in the SSC. They are
required to join us for a visit to the SSC after prelims. We are supposed to work out the activities and respective worksheets to be printed out. So, any volunteers?? We will need 5 to 6 ppl in the games committee. Games Master is ChoonWee.
This excursion will take place on the 16th of November, which is a Wednesday. It will be from 2pm to 6pm.
The Games Committee will be in charged of getting ready the worksheets. I wish to have a Souveneirs Committee to help make little gifts for the kids. Most importantly, we will discuss with the class again on a later date. Also, we are collecting some old children's books and toys for the home. The date of collection is not confirmed yet, however let's hope that we can span it over a few days so that you all can bring the donations bit by bit.
As you know, this is COMPULSORY for every one of us (because it is Learning Journey too!)
So, hopefully it will also help some to achieve the minimum requirement of 6 hours of CIP (i think we already had 2 hours from the Yellow Ribbon Walk!)
Thank you and have a nice day!
